For Father's Day 2015 Dennis Publishing's motoring division ran a campaign to sell gift subscriptions for their magazines at discounted offer prices. The campaign took the form of online sales pages, email communications, digital banners and more, as a cross-channel communication for
Auto Express,
Octane,
Land Rover Monthly,
evo and
Vantage magazines. At the heart of the campaign's aesthetic was this retro style illustration that I was commissioned to produce after I'd met with the Direct Marketers involved. The rapid turnaround brief from conception, to rough, to final delivery, required I draw four archetypal 'dad' characters representing each of the magazine's key demographics, alongside a choice vehicle to enforce the magazine content.
