About Andi Best - London Creative Freelancer

A stone's throw from the Thames in a studio in south-east London sits creative freelancer Andi Best.
Hello.

Over the past 11 years my business has evolved into a dynamic, client-centric digital boutique, channelling all the power of a mid-weight agency into a competitively priced and personal service. I design and code innovative digital experiences, create illustrated artwork for marketing and merchandise, and help businesses craft their identities through brand development. This multi-disciplinary approach to delivering solutions has seen me work with clients across a wealth of spaces from tech to hospitality, publishing, and the charity sector.
Generally I work remotely from my home studio but should the need arise, I have the capacity to work in-house.

Clients and testimonials

  • Andi's a highly-talented designer, coder and illustrator, with a great deal of experience and a wide range of skills. He takes great pride in his work, has a knack for nailing a design on the first attempt, has a keen eye for detail, and is both organised and efficient. He makes a moderately decent cup of tea.

Having worked closely with Andi for several years, and thoroughly enjoyed doing so, I can recommend him as both an skilful web designer/developer and as a solid human being.

  • Andi is a consummate professional, passionate about great design and dedicated to providing his clients with the very best work. Reliability, enthusiasm and a brilliant finished product is what makes Andi a joy to work with... The only problem with Andi is that he won't take a full time job with us ;)

  • Andi is incredibly creative - particularly in his illustration work. He always takes great care and has a sense of pride in his work. Applying his knowledge of code and design to create impactful designs for Subscription Marketing campaigns. Andi is very easy to work with and liaised with all other team members well. He has a very friendly character and a very positive person. His work is always to a high standard and he always looked to learn more to achieve a better end result.

More about me

  • I'm a husband and proud father.
  • In my formal education years I gained qualifications in illustration and web development.
  • I'm not one of those pyjama-dwelling, shower-dodging freelancers you've heard about.
  • I'm a member of Mensa.
  • I take great delight in meeting clients for coffee, only, not coffee. I'm a white tea, no sugar sort of chap.
  • Where possible I like to avoid web templates and digital boilerplates. If we're going to do this thing, we're going to do it properly. Hand coding - though a ridiculous term - is my preferred methodology for building web solutions.
  • "I thought all you designers used Macs?" - that's the response I normally get when disclosing that I'm a die-hard PC user.
  • I can turn my hand to most analogue drawing materials, with pen, ink, graphite and charcoal being my weapons of choice. I've even been known to draw in 3D.
  • The first 10 years of my career are covered in this blog post which includes my first and worst client experiences.
  • I once wore a different T-shirt every day for a whole year without purchasing a single one.
